NSA is an initiative by Council for 3rd Age (C3A) to provide short courses that touch on a wide range of topics in IT, health and wellness and the arts. It aims to enrich the lives of seniors by giving them a chance to learn a skill or pick up a hobby from qualified trainers.
ILP course aims to encourage intergenerational bonding by matching youths and seniors in a group learning environment and enhance mental and social well-being among seniors. Through practical lessons such as Cyber Wellness, Basic Photography, Terrarium Making, Arts and simple Health Management Tips. Seniors acquire new knowledge while youths are empowered to be active contributors to the community.
An ILP course is typically a single session that ranges from 2.5 to 3hours. For NSA, a full course can range from 8 to 24 hours spread over multiple sessions (1.5-4 hours long).
Class sizes are optimized for learning to suit the content and delivery. As ILP course is a group learning environment with students as the buddies, each session is expected to have about 30-40 students with at least 25 seniors. For NSA, it ranges from 8-15 for classroom learning and average between 15-30 seniors for online seminars.
ILP course are fully subsidized so there is no course fee. The course fee for NSA short courses typically ranges from $20-$60 for online courses and $60-$135 for onsite courses.
