About the project
As part of IMDA's Digital For Life initiative, the Community V.I.P. (Videographer, Instagrammer, Photographer) course is designed to help seniors build connections within their local community and foster a sense of belonging through the creation of an online network.
Participants will join a 4-session workshop (lasting a total of 8 hours) to improve their digital well-being, embrace new technologies, and develop their digital skills using Instagram. They will also learn creative photography and videography techniques, including basic drone operation.
About the course
This course empowers seniors to share their life stories through engaging photos and videos while promoting safe and meaningful use of digital platforms. It covers a range of relevant topics:
Session 1: Mobile Photography & Videography Tips & Tricks
- Master the art of capturing compelling content using your mobile phone.
- Discover tips and techniques for better photos and videos, such as different perspectives and smooth transitions.
- Explore built-in smartphone features, including filters for enhancing images, adjusting exposure to optimize lighting, and hyperlapse for creating time-lapse videos.
Session 2: Instagram
- Learn how to use Instagram to connect with friends and like-minded individuals.
- Develop skills in posting stories and reels, using hashtags, and building a vibrant online community.
Session 3: Digital wellness
- Understand the benefits and potential risks of using Instagram.
- Learn how to use the platform safely and responsibly, protecting yourself and others online.
- Equip yourself with preventive measures against scams, including:
- Learn preventive measures against scam calls or texts, including:
- Recognizing common signs of scams.
- Avoid clicking on suspicious links.
- Using of blocking and reporting features.
Session 4: Drone Basics
- Get an introduction to drones, their types, and how they can be used for fun activities like taking aerial photos.
- Learn about the rules and safety guidelines for flying drones.

Course Duration

Pre-requisites
50 years old and above.
Singaporean or PR.
Must be able to read, understand and converse in simple English.
Must be familiar with the use of mobile phones.
Medium of Instruction & Trainer
All sessions held onsite.
