This is a beginner course where you will learn the basic skills of writing Chinese Calligraphy. We will explore the art of Chinese Calligraphy as an art medium and to understand the structure of the character and history of art in China.

18 hours over 6 sessions


Course Outline

Interesting highlights of the programme include:

  • Holding the brushes 
  • Practice the dot stroke (step by step) 
  • Practice by copying from samples or copybooks
  • Learn to write the proper strokes 
  • Understand the balance of structures not only between a single Chinese character 



Pre-requisitess

50 years old and above

Singaporean or PR

Must be able to read, understand and converse in simple English

Your Trainer:

Heu Chang Chin has been practicing Chinese calligraphy for 30 years. In 2016, he won the top prize of Dr Tan Tsze Chor Art Awards (Chinese Calligraphy). Chang Chin shares his passion and knowledge of Chinese calligraphy by teaching at FeiYue Art Centre, Hwa Chong Alumni and a local art gallery. He regularly takes part in calligraphy exhibitions and his works have been collected in Singapore and other countries.
