Koh Yi Yan (Ariela)
Starting from the age of 8, Ariela joined the school band as a percussionist and has been captivated by beats and grooves. From there, she went on to obtain certification with ABRSM. At the age of 21, she picked up the Cajon and started to get exposed to a wider genre of music as she played in church and in acoustic bands for private events and celebrations. Currently, Ariela is teaching the Cajon, drumkit, percussion instruments and preschool music programs. She also performs in weddings and events. One of her recent performances includes playing the Cajon with her students from SAMH for the Christmas LightUp @ Ngee Ann City, in front of President Halimah as the Guest of Honour. As a performer, Ariela aims to bring forth joy and the passion of music to the people around me. As an educator, other than imparting skills, she aims to influence her students to have a love for music. Ariela believes that through music, one has a better understanding of oneself and this will bring forth one’s confidence and expression.
