Tackling basic principles in drawing, this package course is designed for those who want to have a strong foundation in art. It will empower participants with a clear understanding of crucial fundamentals in drawing which can serve as a platform for their exploration in other art media in the future. Participants will learn how to draw in colour, tackling tonal values and textures and draw still life using layering techniques. Course is open to participants with little or no drawing experience at all.

* This is a package course consisting of 2 segments - Pencil Drawing (Basic) and Coloured Pencil Drawing (Basic). Signing up for single segment is not allowed.

Part 1: Pencil Drawing

  • Know about various grades of pencils and their characteristics.
  • Understanding tonal values in art
  • Gain expertise in shading techniques and achieving tonal values
  • Ability to understand how lighting affects tonal values
  • Ability in achieving different textures using shading techniques
  • Understand proportion and perspective applying them in drawing
  • Able to draw everyday objects using pencil


Part 2: Coloured Pencil Drawing

  • Introduction to colour pencil

  • Forms and tonal values
  • Colour Theory
  • Layering techniques in rendering
  • Textures in everyday objects

Pre-requisites

50 years old and above

Singaporean or PR

Must be able to read, understand and converse in simple English

Your trainer:

Koh Kuan Eng spent 20 years in the advertising industry before making a career switch to social work. He graduated with a Diploma in Applied Arts from NAFA, and his creatives works have won international awards at The One Show, London International Awards, and The New York Festivals. Koh Kuan Eng is not only an avid backpacker who enjoys keeping travel journals in which he sketches and paints, but he is also an author who incorporates his drawings in a series of pictorial dialect books that has sold over 10,000 copies island-wide.
